How the checker reaches a recommendation

The checker uses a versioned, deterministic rules engine. The same normalized pile and risk mode produce the same grouping; it does not use generative AI, network calls, or personal profiles.

Hard constraints first

Entered machine method and care limits are treated as boundaries. Dry-clean-only items are excluded from machine recommendations, and incompatible hand-wash or hygiene-temperature needs must be separated.

Then visible practical trade-offs

Colour, lint, weight, soil, and fabric considerations create visible warnings. Cautious, balanced, and fewer-load modes change the treatment of these soft risks but never remove a hard conflict.

Limits and review

The tool cannot inspect fabric, read a care symbol, test dye, calculate machine capacity, or guarantee an outcome. The garment label remains authoritative when it is more restrictive.
